CURRUMBIN SANDS THINGS TO DO

Currumbin Oceanway runs a 3.7km path from Tugun to Palm Beach. Starting at the Tugun Surf Life Saving Club you’ll walk north until you come to Flat Rock Creek, cross over and continue along to Elephant Rock. One of the southern Gold Coast’s most well-known landmarks, why not take a few extra minutes to climb the 61 stairs to the top of Elephant Rock, where you can enjoy the lookout and take some great photos too.

From Elephant Rock continue north for approximatley 500metres until you reach Currumbin Rock, joined to the mainland by a rock groyne back in 1973. Just round the creek mouth is the popular surfing spot, Currumbin Alley. Pause for a few moments to watch the surfers, Stand Up Paddle boarders, and admire the beauty of the area, before turning inland and walking along to the Gold Coast Highway Bridge Crossing.

Cross over here and rejoin the oceanway where a boardwalk weaves through the mangroves and Tarrabora Reserve to reach Rockview Park. Enjoy a swim at this sheltered inlet to cool off after your walk.

Of course this walk can also be enjoyed in reverse, or commenced anywhere along the oceanway.
